Detective Pikachu Movie Casts Ryan Reynolds To Play Yellow Pokemon

In what may be the most surprising news in some time, the movie adaptation of Detective Pikachu has found a star and it’s none other than

It was previously reported that in addition to Reynolds, the film’s producers were looking at Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, and Mark Wahlberg to take on the titular role. Based on the Japanese video game Great Detective Pikachu, the movie is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).

There is no release date for Detective Pikachu yet. Pokemon fans who can’t wait are in luck, though. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were recently released. Reynolds returns to the big screen in Deadpool 2 on June 1, 2018.
