We have another mainline Valkyria Chronicles game to look forward to next year and it’s also getting a Switch version.
If you are a bit confused on the numbering here, then it’s worth explaining after the original Valkyria Chronicles on PS3, we had both Valkyria Chronicles II and Valkyria Chronicles III on PSP. However, while the former was given a Western release, the latter was not.
Following that we had Valkyria Revolution, which was a spinoff from the main series.
That brings us to the newly announced Valkyria Chronicles 4 that is set during the Second Europan War and will go back to the overall setting, gameplay and visual style from the older games in the series.
For those that didn’t particularly enjoy Valkyria Revolution, the fact that Sega is going back to how the older games played is definitely a plus here.
The other great piece of news is that in addition the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, Valkyria Chronicles 4 will also be coming to the Switch.
The fact the Switch is being included in more cross-platform releases, as well as getting new ports of games, only helps to increase the size and variety of the console’s library. This is really important, as it is this variety that will ultimately determine the long-term fate of the console.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is released in March of next year for PS4 and Xbox One. The Switch version of the game will be released later in the year.
